Meet The Kids Yoga Teachers!

Ashley Ransom

Ashley graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Psychology and Health and Wellness. She has always led a lifestyle involving various forms of fitness and is passionate about natural healing/wellness. Coinciding with personal life hardships and tragedies, Ashley submerged herself into the practice of yoga around 2016. Having done yoga many times over the years, it was only now that she began to learn the deeper practice, touching every state of her being. Physical attributes aside, what yoga has brought into her mental world, has been and continues to be a transformative and therapeutic journey.

After several years of working in a fast paced, demanding corporate environment, Ashley started a cleaning/elder care side business, almost by happenstance. Connecting with and helping the elderly through her work, surprisingly proved to be a mutually rewarding venture. As her business blossomed, Ashley eventually left her corporate job in order to focus on motherhood and growing her business. Ashley has found similarities among children and the elderly with whom she works, and finds reward in her ability to connect with both. Some time spent as a substitute teacher taught Ashley that she really had a passion for working with children, but had a preference for that outside of the traditional setting. She and her daughter enjoy mommy and me yoga and it seemed a natural fit when she discovered “Kids Yoga”. Her desire to work with kids and to have the opportunity to reach them during their most formative time led her to instructor training. Ashley values what the practice of yoga has brought into her own life and recognizes that those benefits transcend all ages. Engaging children in a space where connection with peers and oneself can happen is integral and, sadly, something that our society is getting further away from. Ashley’s hopes in becoming a kids yoga instructor is to focus on these character building fundamentals, subsequently cultivating confidence, focus, respect and creating mindfulness of not only themselves but also in the world around them.

Brandi Barker, RYT

My yoga journey began a little over year ago in 2017. I wanted to experience everything yoga had to offer, so I started self teaching at home with a series of DVDs. This ignited a fire in me which led me to aerial yoga and my first “in home” swing. I was hooked!! Realizing that there might actually be a place for me in yoga that suited my over active mind and wild energy, I Jumped at the chance to take my kids yoga teacher training! The perfect storm of Creativity, yoga and fantasy within each child excites me! I am at home. My goal is to create a secure loving environment to grow both physically and mentally with each child I meet and each class I teach.

Since a child I felt the yearning in my soul to make a difference. I wanted to spread the same peace I had to every person, place or thing I encountered. In 2005, I graduated from Daytona Institute of Massage Therapy. My heart wanted to spread love and I knew the power of touch would assist in doing so. Certifications in Swedish Massage & TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
In 2014 I became part of a gym that had all the elements I was created from, Elite Strength Performance.
The energy of the support and community was an avalanche to anyone who walked through the door. I guided athletes from high school ages to pre college drafts. I did energy work through visualization and guided meditation to athletes to facility in homeostasis. We took Kids Yoga on the road during the summer months visiting outside schools. I saw children and athletes transform in front of my eyes. I knew that the practice of yoga was a gift everyone needed to unwrap and I wanted to make sure they got it.
I decided to pursue the things that I used to facilitate my peaceful nature. I became a certified Kidding Around Yoga Instructor. I have meditated since a child finding peace through the noise. I threw my body upside down spinning with the wind allowing it too circumference a stillness in my soul that was unmovable. I later learned there was a name for my inner knowing that created peace , joy and stillness ,Yoga. As a teacher I found my happy place, the importance of listening to each child and meeting them where their at, would in return allow them to teach me. A balancing Act of unconditionally holding space.
As a certified Kids yoga Instructor, I enjoy integrating my love for music, creative movement and artistic expression into all my classes. I believe in supporting each child’s imagination by providing a fun, loving and creative atmosphere that provides an outlet to handle stress. My goal is to teach them how to be thee peace in the world by giving them tools to practice.
I am a single mother to 3 amazing gifted souls and my heart’s desire is that I would facilitate a channel of love that will cascade to not only my children but every child that I have the privilege of guiding.

Jeff Fedora, RYT500-ERYT200, YACEP

Jeff’s vinyasa flow style at his weekday classes offers a balance of guided breath meditation and integration, powerful and deep all-level vinyasa movement and Yin/Nidra meditation. He brings to the experience the aesthetics of his passion for philosophy, world-religion, spirituality and One-ness, art and music.
His class intention is to cultivate easily repeatable practices and ways of being for his students that ground them deeper into their practice and their own transformational space of truth and internal guidance. It is the yoga of relationship– to source, our selves, each other and all that we experience and create. It is yoga for the community, and every class is a unique and shared journey of inquiry and discovery.

“Although I was already familiar with yogic philosophy, I came to discover the asana, the physical practice, as a middle age male needing to heel spine injuries and 20 years of chronic pain and inflammation. Something just told me to trust the built-in wisdom of the ancient practice. So I did. And I practiced every day and in a couple months I was pain free and my physical body had completely transformed. But I didn’t notice that so much, because I was meeting myself for the first time, I was meeting my own guru and that changed everything. So that’s my intention– to create a safe space of connection and community for others to do the same. I’m grateful for our Kula yoga community. It’s difficult for me to describe ‘what my yoga is’. My yoga is your yoga. I strive to be a passionate student and a compassionate teacher and I’m grateful everyday that I get to be. And wherever that meets me…that’s what my yoga is.”

Michele Fedora, RYT500-ERYT200, YACEP, PharmD

Michele brings a unique perspective to the yoga community through her life experiences as a mother, yoga teacher and PharmD. She is an ERYT200-RYT500 hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, receiving her training for Vinyasa & Hatha Yoga from Yogacara. She has also completed more than 100 hours of Aerial Yoga training from Circusoul Flying Yoga, and 40 hours of Yoga Teacher Training with Bryan Kest. She has also completed a 670 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga University in Altamonte Springs, FL in 2019 as she believes learning is a lifelong process.

Although she has practiced yoga for many years, she discovered Aerial yoga in 2013 and instantly loved it as it provided relief of her neck and upper back pain from a skiing injury from many years before. As yoga (and especially aerial yoga) has drastically improved her quality of life, she felt it was too beneficial both physically and mentally not to share it with others. She started the company FlyingBeachYoga in order to share the practice of aerial yoga and currently teaches aerial and trains out of multiple studios. You can fine her under the same name on Facebook and YouTube and @FlyingBeachYoga on Instagram.

Michele and Jeff started the company http://www.KulaYogaKids.com to empower the youth of our community through yoga and mindfulness practices; giving them the tools they need to navigate through this ever changing, fast paced world. She completed her Children’s’ Yoga Teacher Training with Cosmic Kids Yoga after seeing how her own son loved and benefited from the practice of yoga. Kula Yoga Kids offers kids yoga classes for kids from preschool to high school, teaching kids yoga, mindfulness, meditation and pranayama in a fun, engaging atmosphere. Kula Yoga Kids also offers kids teacher trainings both online and live. The Kula Yoga Kids Facebook and Instagram pages provide updates on all these services.

Sarah Sakaji

I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years.  Yoga has brought me many benefits through the years and I longed to share this love with others. My 14 years of teaching experience in public and private schools, gave me a natural way to integrate my two passions together by teaching yoga to children.  I have worked with newborns through high school children in many settings. I love to share yoga with children and give them a sense of inner peace. While teaching children inside and outside the classroom yoga I have seen changes in their concentration, ability to learn, and kindness to others.
